On this Sunday, our Willamette Valley was shrouded in smoke from wildfires that devastated nearby communities and indirectly affected almost everyone in our state. Last week’s events left us reeling as a community. Pastor Nicole was led to have us just worship that day. She also shared what we can do as the Church during times of community crisis through the lens of Psalm 27. Click on the link below to watch the live service on YouTube.
1. Declare who our God is (out loud). The Lord is my light and my salvation-whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life-of whom shall I be afraid? (Psalm 27:1)
2. Remember…we are the temple (the dwelling place) of the Living God. We take Him with us everywhere we go. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life. (Psalm 27:4a).
3. Position ourselves to be teachable and led by Him. Teach me your way, Lord; lead me in a straight path because of my oppressors. (Psalm 27:11).
4. Share GOOD news…what God IS doing. I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. (Psalm 27:13).
