February 15, 2026: Breaking Free From Rumination Pt. 2
Pastor Brian concluded Breaking Free from Rumination by reminding us that rumination is a deceptive mental habit; replaying negative thoughts in a way that feels like control but actually traps us in fear, isolation, and hopeless expectations. Over time, these inner loops (“I can’t handle this,” “Things will never get better,” “I’m too broken”) can become part of our identity and blind us to God’s active presence and intervention. Scripture calls us to renew our minds (Ephesians 4:23–24) and fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8–9). Breaking the habit begins with naming the lie, sharing our struggles with trusted people, asking solution‑oriented questions, and intentionally setting our minds on God’s truth. Practically, this means shifting from “I am sick” to “God is standing up for me,” remembering we’re not meant to face struggles alone, noticing God’s provision in the present, and recalling His faithfulness in the past.
