December 15, 2024: Take Them and Learn to Run 4.0

Continuing on in Galatians chapter 2, she talked about how the fear of man can keep us from running the race well. Fear of man is concern over what others think, say, or do to you. It can also be described as an Idol of Approval. It can manifest in many different ways such as people pleasing, compromised values, peer pressure, or not sharing our faith. We can end up making decisions based on how it looks to man rather than based on how it looks to God. Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

She said there are two lanes we can run in, the lane of God's grace, or the lane of the law. When we partner with the fear of man and do things by our own works we move from the lane of grace into the lane of the law. This lane is much more difficult to run the race in. We need to stay focused on the fact that Jesus lives in us and works through us by grace and that we live by faith and trust in God!

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing.
